Hints for How to Put on Eye Makeup

The key factor in how to put on eye makeup is to know what you’re trying to show off. For example, are you trying to make your small lids stand out, or de-emphasize slightly protuberant eyes? (Yes, you can have too much of a good thing!) Luckily, it’s easy to accomplish either of these beauty goals with the ease of your dual eye shadow compact.

Let’s say you want to make your eyelids stand out, because they tend to be overshadowed by your brow line. First of all, find some dual shade kit like the Too Faced Eyeshadow Duo Beauty Mark, in colors contrast well with your eye color. Use a good applicator brush, like the Sephora Short Handle Slanted Eyeshadow Brush, to gently apply the lighter color to the eyelid, but only as far up as the crease. (This brush is one of my favorites because the angle is dead-on, and the shorter brush fits in my hand perfectly.) Then apply your darker shade from the crease to your brow. To make your lids pop, opt for lighter shades like champagnes and light beiges.

If your eyelid area already stands out on its own use darker colors like deeper bronzes or plum. Of course, keep your individual eye color in mind when ever deciding how to put on eye makeup. Blue eyes contrast well with melon tones; greens eyes dazzle against bronze shades, and brown eyes pop when set against most neutrals.
