Do you have long beautiful hair? Well, if you are looking for a way to help others without having to dip into your savings here is an easy answer to look even more beautiful and feel that way too.

There are thousands of children with hair loss in this country, either because of natural hair loss or due to serious medical conditions like cancer.

Here is a simple thing that you can do to help:

The next time you go for a haircut bring a bag and have your stylist put the cut hair in it. Then have the hair donated to locks of love. “Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.”

Can you imagine a better feeling than helping these kids feel better about themselves while doing something that makes you feel better as well? Remember, the next time you get your hair cut and admiring your new do that you can help a child feel just as fabulous in three easy steps.

We all want thicker lashes and you see dozens of commercials on tv promising the look of longer lashes but not that many that say that they can actually make your lashes longer and stronger naturally. Well today I am doing a review on Revitalash, the newest $150 a tube craze. Their claim:

Use Eevitalash on your upper and bottom lashes for sixty days and actually have longer, thicker, healthier eye lashes.

What is in it:

Vitamin B Conditioner Lashgrow

Does it actually work?

Well every reviewer I have seen, including Extra Tv is calling it a “miracle” Here is a quote from one such reviewer:

“ ‘ I have no lashes to begin with,” Dayna said. “My makeup artist actually laughed at me the first time he saw my lashes.”

But after applying Revitalash to her upper and lower lash lines – just like eyeliner – for nearly two months, Dayna had a whole new set of luscious lashes.

“I can’t believe it, but it worked,” she said.’”

RevitaLash Eyelash Conditioner RevitaLash Eyelash Conditioner RevitaLash is a unique eyelash conditioner that will help you achieve significantly Longer, Thicker, and Fuller eyelashes. Like liquid eyeliner, RevitaLash is simply applied once a day. Within three to ten weeks, your own natural eyelashes will look spectacular: Longer, Thicker, Fuller! These exciting results are seen in women of all ages! No matter how short, fragile, thin, or sparse your eye lashes are, RevitaLash can help you achieve long, beautiful, healthy looking eyelashes.

Since we discussed honey as a beauty treatment yesterday, today I am going to give you a simple 3 step honey facial mask solution.

  • Take a warm towel and apply it to your face to open your pores.
  • Spread honey on your face and leave it there for a minute or two. Avoid the eye areas.
  • Wash off with cold wet towels. This will close your pours.

Then just apply your normal moisturizer. This is a simple way to exfoliate your skin and leave it feeling and looking fantastic.

Honey and Hair - A good idea or a sticky mess

August 27, 2008   No Comments

          0 votos

The latest question posted was about honey and hair. Apparently there are a lot of “all natural” hair care products that claim to have honey in them. Now I know that I have mentioned that honey is a good exfoliant and has great antibacterial properties but as a hair care ingredient, it leaves a lot to be desired.

Honey is sticky. What you want is a product that leaves your hair smooth. Honey will not do this. Plus it is difficult to get out of your hair. Go to the old standbys for your hair - natural oils as a conditioner maybe or a beer rinse to give your hair body.

Use honey to exfoliate your skin. Combine it with an oil base and the natural sugars will exofliate your skin leaving it feeling silky smooth.

Skin Tone and Makeup - How to Pick Your Colors

August 26, 2008   No Comments

          0 votos

Picking colors that compliment your skin tone can seem a bit complicated. In the winter we naturally get paler and in the sun, most of us are working on our tan either naturally or with a little help from the cosmetics industry.

The colors that look best on you are going to be the ones that you pick when you are palest. According to ivillage.com,”Observe the color of your nail bed or pinch the skin under your arm (or any place the sun never shines). Does the tone tend to appear more reddish-orange, reddish-blue, pinkish-blue, peachy or yellowish? Once that’s determined, you’ll have a benchmark for your natural tone. The colors that will look most organic against your skin are the colors you find in your skin. Conversely, the colors that will create vibrancy are those that contrast.”

Or you can try this tip by essortment.com, ” Holding a piece of white paper up to your face and identifying the main color you see will help you decide into which category you fall. Still, it is easy to get confused by these terms, so to simplify the process try this simple test. Try on a white shirt and then a cream or off-white top. If you look better in the white blouse, you most likely have cool skin. If the cream top is more flattering, your skin is probably warm. Another good indicator of skin tone is which jewelry looks best on you. Silver tends to work well for cool skin while gold makes warm skin glow. Either of these methods will help you to easily identify your coloring, at which point you can begin selecting make-up colors that will look excellent on you.”

Skin tones usually fall into two categories - cool and warm. Mediterranean skin tones would be in the warm category. Individuals with Scandinavian backgrounds, for example, would fall into the cooler skin tones.

Play with these colors. You may have to go a shade darker when you tan and a shade lighter during your palest moments. As for the colors that you should use for your eye makeup, look to your eye color and apply makeup that really brings attention to your eyes.

Also make use of your eye liner, as we discussed in our last blog.

How to put on eyeliner

August 25, 2008   No Comments

Putting on eyeliner does not have to be difficult. It simply takes a steady hand.

hypnotic-eyes.jpg

First let’s look at eye liner colors. The eye liner color that you choose will have a big effect on your look.

  • For a natural look go with a brown liner and for an evening or more dramatic look black liner does the trick every time.
  • Dust your top and bottom lid with loose powder before applying your liner. The powder will help your liner stay in place.
  • If you have a steady hand go for a liquid liner. If you are just starting out with eye liner, go with a pencil as they are easier to control.
  • When applying eyeliner start in the middle of your eye and work outward toward the corner of your eye. Try to get as close to your lash line as possible. I like to line just the top lid for a more dramatic effect but you can also line the bottom eyelash line.
  • You can also use a makeup sponge or a soft tissue to gently dab the eyeliner line for a softer look.

Can Green Tea Help Prevent Sun Damage and Acne?

August 24, 2008   No Comments

          0 votos

Everywhere you look green tea is being touted for its health benefits. It is known as a powerful antioxidant and drinking the tea is highly beneficial. But what else can it be used for?

Well apparently, according to one study, when the extra is applied under your normal sun screen, it can help prevent sun damage.

“It is best to combine green tea with zinc oxide-based sunscreens because zinc oxide is chemically inert and should not react with green tea (which some chemical sunscreens might do, especially in sunlight).” according to smartskincare.com

You can find green tea skin creams at most health food stores like Chamberlin’s and Whole Foods. What other skin care benefits have been found using green tea?

Well, another study by Jennifer Gan-Wong, M.D, states that green tea is just as effective as Benzoyl Peroxide in the treatment of moderate to severe acne without leaving your skin dry and flaky.

Hmm, do you think that there may be a good reason that Japanese women have such amazing skin. Perhaps one of the reasons is because so many of the facial products from there contain this powerful antioxidant. Just a thought.

Puffy Eyes - Give your eyes a wakeup call with this beauty secret

August 23, 2008   No Comments

Have puffy eyes? Need to tame the redness? Have some lines around the eyes you’d rather not show off to the world?

Lack of sleep tends to result in many of the biggest issues I write about in these beauty reviews. Not to worry, there are beauty secrets even for the most sleep deprived among us.

It’s hard to conquer the aging process, and for some of us, the battle begins with our eyes. The delicate skin to be found there shows stress, fatigue, and even illness and allergies. If you’re looking for a way to fight this, you might try a handy little product called Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels.

The one-use gels are applied just under your eyes, once a week for ten minutes. Small enough to toss in your handbag or in your car, you can use them on the go; whether you’re waiting in traffic or commuting on an airplane. Besides, I like beauty secrets that require me to close my eyes for a few minutes!

Nobody likes to look out at the world from puffy, lined eyes, and this is a great way to relax a bit while taking better care of yourself. Paying attention to the eye area just once a week will bring you long-term benefits; you’ll look better and feel better, too.

Eye gels do beat cucumber slices, which tend to rot and drip if taken along in your purse – they aren’t very portable and unless you also enjoy eating cucumbers, they end up being wasted. So you don’t need to go through the day looking as tired as you feel. And the real beauty secret is that once you look more energized, you’re likely to feel that way!

Facial Beauty is Important – Protect It!!!

August 22, 2008   No Comments

Ever wonder how on earth you will keep your face looking fresh throughout the summer? Have you spent a day playing in the water only to come home and realize that your face is now three shades DARKER than your foundation?

There’s no faster way to look like you’re a summer intern with the clowns at the circus than to put light make-up on a sun-kissed face. And unless this is your wish, I’m pretty sure that deep down in your heart of hearts you’d rather not make an appearance that makes your friends wonder if you’ve decided to make a career change!

One way you can keep your facial beauty is to be sure you apply sunscreen to your cheeks (as well as the rest of your beautiful face!) before heading out the door in the morning. Finding a good, moisturizing lotion that includes a minimum of an SPF15 rating is a necessity.

The folks at KORRES have come up with a delightful little tube of sunscreen that with regular application can help you keep that youthful glow that shows off your facial beauty. What’s more, it’s fun and smells good, too! The Watermelon Sunscreen Face Cream (SPF30) is a great cream that will not only keep your face hydrated and moisturized, it can be counted on to help keep your skin healthy and escape the damaging rays of the sun.

The best beauty reviews out there all agree that it’s of utmost importance to protect your skin from the damaging rays of the sun. Why not ensure your own facial beauty by protecting your skin?
