Makeup Tips to Get the Smoky Eyes You Always Wanted

One of the most trendy makeup tricks also happens to be one of the easiest. Well, it is when you have the right makeup tips and tools to help you along! Smoky eyes are great for nights out or even just to make your eyes stand out.

Here are a few makeup tips to get you on your way to smoky eyes.

1.First, you need the right tools to make this happen. Besides your eyeliner and mascara, the most crucial part to smoky eyes is having the right eye shadow. One of the easiest to use is Smoky Eyes by Sephora brand; this actually shows which color to use where and includes all the colors you would need.

2.If you don’t have the idiot-proof eye shadow, the placement of the colors of eye shadow is truly what makes this look. Start with a neutral color for your all-over base, then use your darkest color in the crease of your eye, your second darkest color over the lid, and the lightest color at the top to show the distinction of colors.

3.The last of the makeup tips for smoky eyes is to have a dark eyeliner and mascara for the finishing touch.

Yes, this is typically more of an evening look, but it’s full of oomph! whenever you decide to use it. Beauty blogs have been talking up smoky eyes for some time now. Have some fun with the makeup tips, and make those eyes stand out!

Beauty Advice for Teens: Hot Tips for Perfect Lips

September 8, 2008   No Comments

Everyone wants to show the world a beautiful face, and what gets noticed the most is probably your lips. If you’re getting ready to go out on a date, have an important event to attend, or just want to get dolled up for a night out with your girlfriends, having gorgeous, sexy lips is a must.

Perfect for teens, Lancome Juicy Tubes Rose Fishnets Lip Gloss allows for gorgeous lips without a blast of color; it simply adds shine with hints of gold. One of my favorite bits of beauty advice for teens is to keep the lip gloss handy. You’ll never know when you will want to give your lips a little extra shine for that perfect smile.

Lip gloss can be applied by itself or over the top of your regular lipstick. Either way, it will give your lips a more dramatic look. That’s a bit of beauty advice for teens that’s worth reading about!

  1. When applying lip gloss to your lips, be sure to start in the middle of your top

lip, working your way down to the corners.

  1. Avoid going all the way to the corners, because as your lip color wears off

throughout the day, it can accumulate there and be very unattractive!

  1. Repeat on the bottom lip, applying the gloss about halfway on each side of

your lip.

Following these steps will give you a great look and some beauty advice for teens that you can pass along to your friends. Beauty reviews everywhere seem to agree that using lip gloss is a great way to emphasize what may be the most eye-catching part of your face; your beautiful smile.

Basic Makeup Advice: “Tricks of the Trade” Perfection Primer

September 2, 2008   No Comments

          0 votos

Looking for some basic makeup advice? Well, you’ve come to the right place! When applying makeup, there are some simple steps that almost everyone should follow. They are easy, relaxing, and end with you looking your best!

Basic makeup advice:

1.Clean your skin with a gentle, alcohol-free cleanser. This will help remove any dirt, build-up or environmental residues you might have on the surface of your skin.

2.Tone! A nice, light toner helps to reduce any excess oil you have on your face.

3.Moisturize. Use a cream that is made for the delicate skin of your face; it is lighter in texture and won’t drag your skin down by the end of the day. Any good beauty reviews you read will tell you to moisturize. Choose one with some sunscreen in it, too.

4.Apply some primer. Sephora makes the Tricks of the Trade Perfection Primer, which helps to brighten and give your skin a warm glow. Designed as a highlighter base, it has pink pearlescent micro-particles and soft-focus pigments that reflect the light for that warm glow you’re looking for. A primer is a good product to add to your beauty regimen, since it helps ensure makeup application and makes your makeup last longer!

5.If you’re using a foundation, go ahead and apply this next. Blush follows, then eye shadow, liner, mascara, and lips.

Whether you’re going all-out and applying makeup to your whole face for a night out on the town or are toning it down for the office or a trip to the zoo, following this basic makeup advice will help your makeup last longer and keep your face fresh all day long.

Skin Tone and Makeup - How to Pick Your Colors

August 26, 2008   No Comments

          0 votos

Picking colors that compliment your skin tone can seem a bit complicated. In the winter we naturally get paler and in the sun, most of us are working on our tan either naturally or with a little help from the cosmetics industry.

The colors that look best on you are going to be the ones that you pick when you are palest. According to ivillage.com,”Observe the color of your nail bed or pinch the skin under your arm (or any place the sun never shines). Does the tone tend to appear more reddish-orange, reddish-blue, pinkish-blue, peachy or yellowish? Once that’s determined, you’ll have a benchmark for your natural tone. The colors that will look most organic against your skin are the colors you find in your skin. Conversely, the colors that will create vibrancy are those that contrast.”

Or you can try this tip by essortment.com, ” Holding a piece of white paper up to your face and identifying the main color you see will help you decide into which category you fall. Still, it is easy to get confused by these terms, so to simplify the process try this simple test. Try on a white shirt and then a cream or off-white top. If you look better in the white blouse, you most likely have cool skin. If the cream top is more flattering, your skin is probably warm. Another good indicator of skin tone is which jewelry looks best on you. Silver tends to work well for cool skin while gold makes warm skin glow. Either of these methods will help you to easily identify your coloring, at which point you can begin selecting make-up colors that will look excellent on you.”

Skin tones usually fall into two categories - cool and warm. Mediterranean skin tones would be in the warm category. Individuals with Scandinavian backgrounds, for example, would fall into the cooler skin tones.

Play with these colors. You may have to go a shade darker when you tan and a shade lighter during your palest moments. As for the colors that you should use for your eye makeup, look to your eye color and apply makeup that really brings attention to your eyes.

Also make use of your eye liner, as we discussed in our last blog.

Need to Apply Makeup? Techniques Make it Easy

July 17, 2008   No Comments

          0 votos

There are many things about beauty that do not come naturally. Applying makeup can be something that a woman struggles with and that is normal. Nobody is born knowing how to apply mascara or the perfect place to apply blush. It is something you learn. What I love about writing beauty reviews is that there’s always something new to learn about how I apply makeup.

Techniques are simply methods that let you learn the basic and branch out from there. For example, eye shadow can be applied in numerous ways depending upon the look you desire. It is possible that you will never learn all the ways to apply to eye shadow because there are just so many.

The most common and simple approach to applying eye shadow is to cover the entire lid with a single color. Not much to that. What if you learn a couple of simple techniques to take that look to a whole new level? Applying mascara, though, is one thing that is generally done the same way.

  1. You start by applying to the upper lashes using the brush to simply sweep the lashes.

So what else can you do with mascara?

Recently, I discovered the Imju Fiberwig Long Lash Kit that basically walks you through a great technique. How? The kit includes a “How to go Beyond Mascara with Fiberwig” DVD and a Compact Eyelash Curler. Never used a curler? You’ll learn how to create dramatic and long looking lashes with simple steps.

You can spend a lifetime learning to apply makeup. Techniques give you the chance to try it out in new and fun ways. That is what makes makeup so fun and such a great addition to your daily routine.

Is Your Makeup Damaging Your Skin?

July 13, 2008   No Comments

          0 votos

Think of makeup like fresh fruit. If you don’t consume it within a certain amount of time it will go bad. Unlike that crispy new apple, it may not be as readily apparent that your makeup has turned. Applying old makeup and skin care products to your face can actually be doing more harm than good. Bacteria can get into even the most expensive brand name products and irritate your skin.

Mascara is a prime example. Old mascara is a prime target for bacteria and can lead to eye infections. So throw out those old clumpy tubes. I don’t care if you have a date. Which is worse for your guy to see - macara-less lashes or the inside of an emergency room?

Here are some rules of thumb when it comes to your makeup’s expiration:

1) Unopened cosmetics and skin care products have the longest shelf life. Keep all cosmetics in a cool dry environment. Hint, your bathroom is probably not the best place to store your cosmetics.

2) If your makeup looks like it is separating ( i.e. if it looks like there is liquid sitting on top of a thicker substance) then it is more than time to toss it. Don’t try shaking it to try to reblend it, unless the product specifically says that this is normal.

3) Don’t put the makeup directly on your hands, straight from the bottle. Use a cotton swab or double folded tissue paper.  Your fingers have germs and natural oils that can easily get into your products with repeated use.

4) Keep jar sealed tightly. Yes, I know that you are in a hurry to get out the door but this only takes an extra second or two.

5) Replace mascara at least every three months and really make sure that it is sealed tightly between uses.

These are just a few tips on how to keep your makeup fresh so that you can continue to have wonderful glowing skin and less skin reactions. These tips are even more important if you have any type of problem with acne. Don’t let your makeup be one more battle between you and your quest for clear, beautiful skin.
