Hi all

I was in Miami, Florida this week on business and a client of mine took me to this amazing new sushi restaurant called Abokado. The restaurant owners have combined fresh sushi with Peruvian flavors.

Located in the back of Mary Brickell Village about a block off of Brickell Avenue, this unique restaurant is definitely worth trying.

The sushi rolls are all extremely fresh and unique, the appetizers were scrumptious and the service was outstanding. We started with their “nachos” which consisted of a tempura shiso leaves filled with delicious tuna tartar piled on top. Then we sampled a few of the different sushi rolls and finished with perfectly prepared churros. Churros in a sushi place? Yes it is still Miami and they were lick the sugar off the tips of your fingers good.

As for the sushi portion of our meal, the Sushi Diablo was particularly good, although not as spicy as I would have imagined with a name like Diablo. They also have an extensive list of of ceviches, tiraditos, nigiri and sashimi, that we didn’t have room to incorporate into this meal.

The prices were fairly reasonable for the Brickell area, as well, ranging from $25-50 per person.

Anyway if you are into trying unique flavor combinations and enjoy good sushi check this place out:

P.S. I also got to try a sushi restaurant in Coral Gables called Sun and Moon on US1 which was also awesome and unique. I will be posting a review of that sushi restaurant tomorrow.

Azul Restaurant Review - Miami Florida

Hi all

I am currently in Miami on business so I thought I would share a delightful new restaurant that I tried called Azul. It is located in the Mandarin Oriental hotel and is nothing less than fabulous. The decor is Asian inspired, the staff almost overly helpful and the food …. oh my goodness the food.

The Ahi Tuna that we started with was the freshest that I have ever tried and the marinade was out of this world. Next came an amazingly tender sliced steak that literally melted in my mouth and finally we tried a raspberry soup for dessert to refresh our palettes. Now this restaurant is pricey even for lunch but you feel like royalty while you are there so it is so worth it. You may want to skip the dessert though becasue they bring you a few small pastries when they bring out your check.

The meal described above was on their tasting menu that day and you so you would have a few items to choose from. Choose wisely. They do not skimp on portions.

Lunch: 12pm-3pm, M-F

Dinner: 6:30pm-11pm, M-S

  • the bar opens at 6 if you want a pre-dinner cocktail

To make a reservation please call +1 (305) 913 8358

The restaurant and hotel are located near downtown so if you are staying on South Beach give yourself ample time to get there.
