The most common surgery that women choose to have is some sort of breast surgery. Whether it be breast implants, breast reduction or a breast lift many women feel that their breasts are a huge part of their identity. Therefore, the strive for perfection in the bust is a common theme. Breast lifts are popular because over time the breast tissue often sags and sometimes the shape of the breasts becomes lost over time. A breast lift strives to correct this error. Breast lifts are also known as a Mastopexy.
How is a Breast Lift Performed?
The basics of a breast lift are that the plastic surgeon removes the extra skin which allows the breast to lose its shape and size. Then the breast is reshaped by the existing breast tissue with the less skin to create its final shape and lift.
Why do Women Have Breast Lifts Performed?
Over time the breast normally loses its youthful shape. Even though time is the major factor for sagging breasts there are various other reasons for the loss of breast shape. These factors include pregnancy, losing weight, gaining weight, breast feeding, the large size of the breasts or hereditary sagging. Usually after these events, a woman will notice a major difference in her breasts for better or worse and therefore will decide if it is the right time to perform a breast lift in order to achieve her youthful looking bust once again. Women should also take into consideration what they actually want done to the breasts. A lift will not increase or decrease the size of the breasts just lift and reshape them. Therefore, if you are looking for a fuller or lesser shape you should reconsider having a breast enlargement or breast reduction. You can also have these surgeries performed alongside a breast lift.
A Little Snip Bit of the Surgery
During your breast lift, your doctor will have the choice of using difference incisions depending on multiple factors regarding your breasts. These factors include the elasticity of your breast skin, the size of your breasts, the shape of them, the size and location of the areolas and by how much the your breasts are sagging. There are three main incisions that can be made depending on these factors but they all revolve around an incision by the areolas. After the incision is made, the breast tissue will be reshaped while the areola and the nipple are located correctly depending on the breast lift. The excess skin is then removed to prevent sagging and the incisions are then closed.
One positive factor regarding your surgery is that you will be able to see the results of your breast lift rather immediately. It is a very common surgery among women which will help them to maintain their youthful bust.
