Can Green Tea Help Prevent Sun Damage and Acne?
August 24, 2008 No Comments
Everywhere you look green tea is being touted for its health benefits. It is known as a powerful antioxidant and drinking the tea is highly beneficial. But what else can it be used for?
Well apparently, according to one study, when the extra is applied under your normal sun screen, it can help prevent sun damage.
“It is best to combine green tea with zinc oxide-based sunscreens because zinc oxide is chemically inert and should not react with green tea (which some chemical sunscreens might do, especially in sunlight).” according to smartskincare.com
You can find green tea skin creams at most health food stores like Chamberlin’s and Whole Foods. What other skin care benefits have been found using green tea?
Well, another study by Jennifer Gan-Wong, M.D, states that green tea is just as effective as Benzoyl Peroxide in the treatment of moderate to severe acne without leaving your skin dry and flaky.
Hmm, do you think that there may be a good reason that Japanese women have such amazing skin. Perhaps one of the reasons is because so many of the facial products from there contain this powerful antioxidant. Just a thought.
How to Get Soft Hands
August 11, 2008 No Comments
We moisturize our face, our legs, and our body in general but not many women take the extra time to take care of their hands. Sure you give yourself a manicure but that isn’t enough. Your hands need to be exfoliated and moisturized just like the rest of your body.
1) Use a gentle all natural exfoliant on your hands.
2) Follow with a paraffin wrap - ( once a week treatment) 3) Moisturize as usual.
Or if you prefer an all in one product try the Bliss All you Need is Glove Set.
Psoriasis treatment - what’s new?
August 9, 2008 No Comments
Hi all
I have several of you write to me about your Psoriasis, wondering if there are any new treatments. Well, even though I write product reviews, I am not a doctor so I went hunting online to see what information actual physicians are receiving. And, thank God for Google, I found this site - immunobiology of psoriasis
Now, I don’t understand everything on the site but I am amazed at how comprehensive the information is. I am going to assume that those of you dealing with this disease will better understand some of the terminology that they use. Just as I can probably give a better explanation of Spinal Bifida than most of the doctors that I have been to.
PsoriasisTx is a brand new website that is filled with free information on the treatment of Psoriasis. If you are looking to see what is new in this field then definitely check out this site and maybe, just maybe, you will have a better understanding of what your doctor is saying on your next visit.
I always believe that, as women, we have to do a bit more due diligence when it comes to our health. If you go in prepped with intelligent questions and concerns, you are more likely to help your doctor determine an appropriate type of treatment.
Sincerely,

Have puffy eyes? Need to tame the redness? Have some lines around the eyes you’d rather not show off to the world?
Lack of sleep tends to result in many of the biggest issues I write about in these beauty reviews. Not to worry, there are beauty secrets even for the most sleep deprived among us.
It’s hard to conquer the aging process, and for some of us, the battle begins with our eyes. The delicate skin to be found there shows stress, fatigue, and even illness and allergies. If you’re looking for a way to fight this, you might try a handy little product called Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels.
The one-use gels are applied just under your eyes, once a week for ten minutes. Small enough to toss in your handbag or in your car, you can use them on the go; whether you’re waiting in traffic or commuting on an airplane. Besides, I like beauty secrets that require me to close my eyes for a few minutes!
Nobody likes to look out at the world from puffy, lined eyes, and this is a great way to relax a bit while taking better care of yourself. Paying attention to the eye area just once a week will bring you long-term benefits; you’ll look better and feel better, too.
Eye gels do beat cucumber slices, which tend to rot and drip if taken along in your purse – they aren’t very portable and unless you also enjoy eating cucumbers, they end up being wasted. So you don’t need to go through the day looking as tired as you feel. And the real beauty secret is that once you look more energized, you’re likely to feel that way!
Sincerely,

P.S. A friend just told me about a fantastic product for under the eyes called Benefit Cosmetics Lemon-Aid. She swore to me that every time that she wears it people say that she looks great. Well guess what? I met up with her for coffee the other day and the first words out of my mouth were,” You look fantastic!” I thought she had gone to a spa. She just laughed and pointed to her eyes and said Lemon Aid. Guess where I dragged her after coffee? That’s right. Straight to Sephora to pick some up. I highly recommend this product.

Facial Beauty is Important – Protect It!!!
July 23, 2008 No Comments
Ever wonder how on earth you will keep your face looking fresh throughout the summer? Have you spent a day playing in the water only to come home and realize that your face is now three shades DARKER than your foundation?
There’s no faster way to look like you’re a summer intern with the clowns at the circus than to put light make-up on a sun-kissed face. And unless this is your wish, I’m pretty sure that deep down in your heart of hearts you’d rather not make an appearance that makes your friends wonder if you’ve decided to make a career change!
One way you can keep your facial beauty is to be sure you apply sunscreen to your cheeks (as well as the rest of your beautiful face!) before heading out the door in the morning. Finding a good, moisturizing lotion that includes a minimum of an SPF15 rating is a necessity.
The folks at KORRES have come up with a delightful little tube of sunscreen that with regular application can help you keep that youthful glow that shows off your facial beauty. What’s more, it’s fun and smells good, too! The Watermelon Sunscreen Face Cream (SPF30) is a great cream that will not only keep your face hydrated and moisturized, it can be counted on to help keep your skin healthy and escape the damaging rays of the sun.
The best beauty reviews out there all agree that it’s of utmost importance to protect your skin from the damaging rays of the sun. Why not ensure your own facial beauty by protecting your skin?

Hi all
Skin care is always an issue but for those with skin pigmentation issue it can be even more so. Skin pigmentation issues can occur at birth or develop later in life and careful monitoring and care is needed. Different ethnic groups have different needs. It is important to choose your skin care and cosmetic products based on your particular type. Asians should use different products than those with olive or Mediterranean skin.
Those of us with olive skin coloring must be extra careful to use hypoallergenic products and to avoid products with hydroquinon.
There is now a line of products specifically designed for these skin types. It was developed by Board Certified Dermatologists and Biochemists and is definitely worth checking out.
ORIKI Cosmeceuticals specialize in these specific skin care issues and develop over 8,000 cosmetic products each year.
Here are a few products specifically designed for olive or as they call it AMO skin: AMO Skin Care Products
As I am of Greek decent, I am particularly interested in this line of products. The whole family has olive skin tones and the under eye area has always been a slight problem. If you have similar issues, check out this line.
